The contract agreed to between the United States Air Force and the Marion County Public School District requires that cadets wear the Air Force JROTC uniform a minimum of one day each week, and at other times as designated by the SASI and/or ASI. The uniform is issued to cadets at no cost, but remains the property of the United States Air Force.
The replacement cost of the issued uniform is over $350.00. If uniforms are returned dry-cleaned at the end of the year, then there is no charge. If items are missing or damaged, we have an itemized replacement cost that will be charged to parents (fair wear and tear is considered upon return). Throughout the year if your child grows, they may simply exchange the cleaned item for a new issue at no charge. Dry-cleaning fees are assessed in some cases.
The uniform will be worn on the directed day (normally every Tuesday) of the school term. With the exception of athletics and approved technical (shop) classes, cadets must wear the uniform the entire school day from the first bell until school is dismissed. Evidence of unauthorized removal of the uniform during the school day will result in a Zero Uniform Inspection (ZUI) grade for the week.
If a cadet does not wear the uniform on the required day for any reason, a zero will be entered in the gradebook. Repeat violations may be cause for demotion, an "F" for the current grading period, and/or disenrollment from the course.
Cadets who know they will be absent on uniform day (school activity, appointment, etc.) should wear the uniform the day before the planned absence in order to receive full credit. They may also wear it the following day.
